Default Thoughts on Value

Hi C5Zers,

I'm looking to purchase my new to me C5Z. I'm in love with the look and the way it drives. I'm wanting your thoughts on what this car is worth in you experienced opinions.

I've seen the car. It looks nearly perfect. I don't really find anything cosmetically wrong. I can't find anything wrong when driving it and walking it while idling. If I was to pull the trigger I'd have it inspected by a local corvette shop. So lets say it's in the great shape I think it is, whats a reasonable sales price?

22-26K depending on location. 30 is a little high to me. As there is another, two owner, 02Z with 29k miles in great shape for only 22,900. But does look like a very well taken care of car. As long as it checks out mechanically, and you can negotiate price, I would go for it!

Wow. "P-R-O-U-D" can't begin to describe their pricing. In June '12, I paid CarMax ~$28,000 including tax and a warranty for an '03 z06 with 25,000 miles. That warranty was 6-year / 120,000 miles, bumper-to-bumper.

It does look like a pristine bone stock specimen, but I wouldn't go over $22G out the door. Those rims aren't stock; not even the z06 came with chromed wheels, and I doubt very much if those are polished (I think polished came out in 04). Don't forget to set aside a few hundred for changing all the fluids.

Clutch fluid
Brake fluid
radiator coolant
power steering fluid
transmission fluid
differential fluid
limited slip modifier (OEM GM is ~$14 as I recall)
CAGS

If you pay a shop for all that, I bet it'll run > $500, and it'll probably run $250 for premium brand-name oils and fluids (Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc.) to do them all yourself.

And I *think I see a date stamp on a tire that says 53-10; if I'm right, those tires are 5-1/2 years old. If so, you're gonna need new tires pretty damn "soon".

Grind 'em hard on the price if you want it; that car's killin' their used-Mustang sales, I guarantee it. I bet everyone looking for a Mustang is goin' home to count their pennies and reconsider.

They want too much for it, but it looks like nice car. 22-25K is fair for an 02 with 36K.

I paid 3K less than what they are asking for my 03 with 20K miles, over 3 years ago and that was with a 2 year 50,000 mile warranty.

It looks clean and sharp...but way way way overpriced. I think you can keep looking and find something in similar condition for 22-25k (as others have mentioned).

Did I mention that it is way overpriced and the dealer is getting ready to pull down your pants and have their way w you?

Plz.....take a step back and look around some more....it will save you several thousand dollars minimum.

Agree with above posts. I bought my then bone stock '04 Z06 (Torch Red/Mod Red interior) two years ago for $30k on the nose. It only had 6900 miles, and was near perfect. Talk them down, or find another.

I got my 04Z with 33k for $ 24,700 two years ago and the car was mint. The guy wanted 27K for it but he gave to my offer. They are out there, you just have to look and take your time. The other thing you have to be aware of is the 02 and 03 Z's issue with the valves. Not a deal breaker but you have to get them checked.

Good luck with your hunt !!!!

I'm asking over $4,000 less for my single owner stocker and I have about 1/2 the mileage:

Beautiful car, just to far way for me. Good luck but I'm not sure you need it for a car like that.

Say it ain't so... Southwest Air from DEN to Philly PA is $189-500 one way depending on the ticket you buy. For half the mileage and a $4G discount I'd consider it if I was looking.

For a dealer, I'd say $24-25k would be about right for them to list it for. Which means you could get them down another $1k or so with some haggling. Private party more like $22k. I noticed the chrome wheels to, they weren't a 'factory' option on any 01-04z, but some here say a lot of dealers would send the stock wheels out to be chromed if a customer wanted. I would make sure they are speedlines if I was buying it. Aftermarket chrome replicas are much heavier.

Better deal.. Unless the dealer is willing to come off about 5K, I would be looking at this one!
