Default A little detailing

I did some detailing over the weekend. All Meguiar's products.....clay bar, DA polisher, Ultimate Polish and then finished up with an Ultimate Wax. Was going to use the Ultimate compound to get out some previous car was scratches but didn't really need to. All and all, I liked the way it turned out.

I am a detail guy... Clean is a very important part in the recognition and Kudos we all receive... under the veil of " Clean " is this car we call a C5... I cant thelp but feel like a proud Papa.. seeing a car like this one in this thread and many other we see on this forum...

I see people saying that these cars are over priced as used... But I have to tell you, this C5 in this thread, is a perfect example of real value. IN this case not only in the aesthetic care the OP has taken, but in the design that remains timeless..

Some come here suggesting these cars are only worth 10K... Most of the cars on this forum are well maintained, and may not be typical of what is out there on used car lots, but if keeping a car clean, can double plus the value... then clean is something everyone should consider. I've already turned down more money from very serious friends, who beg me yearly to buy my car.... My problem is, why would I? I could spend 65 K, then add another 15 K to make it mine. That's about 80K to get just a New version of what I already have... My car runs perfectly, everything works, it has been updated to the latest audio technology... It has been accused of being New, way to many times that it becomes embarrassing. I've been accused of being a liar or pulling their leg when telling someone my car is 17 years old and has over 100,000 miles. And some suggest these cars are only worth 10 K.

Just some feelings about the design and the passion many of the C5 members here place on their Corvette.

Curious, does your C5 "live" on the lift, as in is that where you park it every time?
I think a 4-post lift is my next purchase, but I need/want one big enough to lift my F-350 dually when needed too.

It does. I originally bought the lift to make room for 4 cars that I had in my 3 car garage. But I sold the other one so now this is it's permanent perch. I usually lift it to the first notch off the ground just to keep the moisture off the bottom side of the car.

Did you wax and buff by hand or use a power orbital buffer?

Orbital buffer. I used to do it by hand but I always still had small scratches.

That's the problem I've been having too. The car gets a nice shine but still shows the small scratches. Which orbital do you use? I've been wanting to buy one lately but haven't got a clue which would be best.
