Default having 2nd thoughts about adding FAST 90 + LS2 Throttle body

I had a mild head/cam build done about 4000 miles ago, dyno'd 406/370. Runs awesome but I was thinking that finishing off with a ported FAST 90 + LS2 throttle body would be a nice way to add 10-20 additional ponies (and torque) and kind of be the "icing on the cake".

So, I secured a FAST 90, LS2 throttle body and the adapter harness. I cleaned the intake pretty good in preparation to have in ported along with the throttle body, and then have my guy install and retune and call it a day.

However, I'm really loving the way the car runs right now and with porting, install & retune I'm looking at an additional $1K (give or take) and risk changing the way the car runs (most likely for the better/stronger but just saying).

Those of you that were in a similar situation and went ahead with installing the FAST intake, was it worth it? Does the car run as good as before?

I guess I'm having second thoughts about just leaving it as is since I'm super happy with it right now…… I can easily sell the FAST combo for no loss so that's an option.

Any suggestions or advice?

The drive ability is all in the tune. The 90/90 setup is not going to cost you any drive ability if tuned properly. The rest is if you want more power or not. If you are a spot where you are happy then stick with what you have done already.

I vote neither. Keep the fast and TB but don't install it just yet.

The mod bug will come back, when it does then you'll know it's time to install it. Until then, be happy with your car!

You are right, keeping it for down the road is probably the best option! Thanks!

It looks like you have a 2003 and that is an important part of the decision as you have the updated intake from the factory.

I have an 02 with a mild H+C setup (439/403) and I have not swapped out the intake. The factory throttle body was ported by the shop who did the install.

Like you I have often thought about doing the same upgrade though....most people have advised it isn't worth it.

In the same situation, hoping for more replies although there are some real good ones already.

I think this is a double edged sword type situation... the fast will no doubt give you some gains but it really shines when you get into the mid/upper 400's, in the low end of 400's the gains may not be as great... so you could go ahead and install it now, gain a bit, and leave the table open for even bigger gains later on when you go with better heads/cam... or you can hang onto it, save some money at the moment, and install it later on when you do better heads/cam... if you ever decide to boost the car then you can get rid of the fast intake, it will no longer be needed and they are known for cracking when under pressure

I have had the FAST 90mm intake on my car for at least 5yrs with no problems. I put down 453rwhp and 420rwtq with a 228-232 cam with 4:10 gears. If it was me, I would put the FAST on. If you are happy the way it is, then leave it.

Put it on - you have it so why not get some use out of it? If you don't already have a CAI, you should add that with the intake and TB. You may also need bigger injectors if your's are stock. Your tuner can tell you the duty cycle of your current injectors but they have to very close to max with what you have. Everything will be better and driveability will only be enhanced.

Thanks everyone, I'm holding onto the parts and will install in the future, whenever I'm feeling the itch for more.... Or in combo with a bigger cam. I'll get it ported in the next couple months so it's ready to install by late summer.
