So a 99 auto w/ 40K miles. (had it 3 months) I figured since I just had the car checked at a dealer within the last 60 days I should have zero codes. I was wrong of course.. For the record, I thought of having the AC checked as the A/C in general does not cool well but I have not used it much. Everything else works great. Per previous posts, I wrote down the issues , reset and will check again this weekend. My guess is HVAC will come back but I'm not sure I get the others (LDCM, RDCM etc. as all works fine). Any help is appreciated. The dealer wants 125 just to "look" at the A/C. Let me know if these make sense to anyone..... Thanks
Codes- 04May
HVAC B0361 /Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND
LDCM- B2282. B2284, / 12V Power Feed #1 Fault and #2
RDCM-B2283, B2285 / 12V Power Feed #1 Fault and #2
RFA- U1096/Normal software function, history status upon ignition cycling
U1064/Normal software function, history status upon ignition cycling
U1016/Normal software function, history status upon ignition cycling
The LDCM and RDCM codes you are seeig are typically seen when the car battery has recently been connected/disconnected or if the battery is low or weak or has loose or corroded battery cables including at the starter.
If you do not drive the car often do you keep the battery on a tender??? You should.
The RFA Uxxxx codes are also common when the battery is suspect.
The Actuator code is VERY common on the Climate Control HAVC systems on the C5.
You can try this but the code will likely come back:
Extremely helpful thank you! The battery is brand new, replaced shortly before I got the car so that could be a factor.
I do not have it on a tender (I have one) but I have not let it go over 10 days without decent drive. The weather has been fickle but not consistent here in Colorado.
It does blow cold but not much air- not sure if that is related to the actuator or not. However good to know this is common.
I will drive a bit this weekend and see what develops. Sounds like trying the "fix" at the fuse can't hurt. As I mentioned all systems on door(s) are functional so not worried too much there. Worst case, I have an appt. a week from Saturday at a local dealer. Maybe I'll figure something out before then....
Got it.... Check with engine running. Will do and nice to know about the persistent code. It will be in the 80's today and tomorrow so I'll get her out (hopefully today) and run (all off) and see what throws. Then, I'll probably test with the AC at full throttle and regardless of codes if it functions, I'll just run with it. I'll try the fuse reset as well- can't hurt I suppose. This may save me a dealer visit... However if it is just not cooling, I may dive further OR never put the top back on (lol)
Clear the codes, then drive the car for a bit and then check the codes with the engine running. To pull codes with the engine running use the reset button to clear any messages displayed in the DIC and then pul codes as before.
Codes that have come back ar the significant ones. Most likely only the HVAC ones will come back.
On a side ote I have had recurring problems with that HVAC code that you have for a couple years. I clear it and it comes back. I reset the code via the fuse trick and in a few days it is back. I just gave up as the HVAC seems to work fine...........
Yep- Just checked em. All gone but B0361.... I'll try the fuse trick just for fun..
Just my two cents, but I keep my tender on even if it's every other day.
Hope you sort it out!
Thanks.... From what I've read every other day seems a bit excessive. But if it's right there and handy for ya then I guess why not. After 10 days my lights etc all are fine and she fires right up but I'm sure she is charging back to 100%. I try and drive every week which from here on out, will be easy to do. Till November or so..
Did fuse procedure. Fired her up and the AC came on automatically (has been set to off for days). I let it run for a bit. Turned off A/C. Idled a bit and shut down. No codes at the moment...
