Default car covers

when we bought the 2004 vert a couple years ago we also bought a fairly expensive car cover . the cover is yellowish nice material with pin holes and a dark colored tag that says ''front'' at one end . we hate the cover as it is almost impossible to get it on car , in fact without folding mirrors we can not . i know it would help if i looked up the sales receipt but i am really tired at the moment . if the description strikes a chord with anyone do you have trouble putting similar cover on . from reading others threads it is apparent i am less smart than you folks so if you have suggestions that would help us with putting cover on they would be GREATLY appreciated . . . .peace

Default car cover

i purchased one very similiar and after several attempts i found i could start at the front, and hook the cover around the corners of the airdam underneath, and just work it back all the way to the rear of the car without it moving, and then hooking it way underneath the tail end on the outside extreme corners, and that seemed to work. critical to get it to hook around the corner of the air dam in front. in windy conditions, you will need to secure the cover laterally underneath the car between the the two holes in the lower edges of the cover with a short piece of strap or rope. you can try that. hope that works for you.

put the mirrors in the mirror pockets before putting the
cover on the front and rear (start with the mirrors)

that was how i started and it wasn't working . we leave it off in summer and have a tough time getting it on in the fall . i decided to switch it with the one that stays on the 2000 as that is a flannel cover and is very easy to put on . the uncovered vette gets really dusty after a couple weeks so i thought i'd try the flannel on it as it gets driven more often than the 2000 . thanks for suggestions . . peace

Unless it's a waterPROOF cover, in my experience dust will get thru anyway, especially if it gets rained on. I also had a flannel cover for my Z and it was great. Many of the others will abrade the surface on a windy day. I watched a mfr's video about fitting the cover and he said, mirrors first and the rest is easy. Do vert. mirrors not fold? I have a 'dust stop' cover now and it's worthless. It retains dust, 'welcomes' water and is only good for keeping all of the spring thingies that fall up here off. I use the old waterproof cover from my Acura over the duststop to keep it clean and 'dry'.

Almost no such thing.

Covers are designed to breath

It is a common misconception to assume a cover will keep your car
from getting wet.

Water Proof Covers trap moisture (any kind) (like dew and humidity)
under the cover. If left in the direct sun, this can have an adverse
effect on your paint, as the sun bakes the paint with the trapped water.

Modern covers are designed to breath to eliminate this problem.

Modern covers sheet off most of the water, but moisture does
pass as it is designed to do.

Well I guess I have the almost.
I've had it since '09, and because of spending lots of time in harsh weather, it's no longer impervious. However it's the only cover I've had that keeps out dust. Second was the flannel. I've also found that a dusty cover, when rained on, results with a dirty wet car.
