Default Question on Z06 getting engine upgrades

So after about a year of trying to decide if I want to keep my c5z or get a c6 GS, I have decided to keep the c5. It's hard when seeing so many great c5's being sold, and I can't help but think why? But I focused more on why I like the car and decided that the better looks of the c6 just aren't enough to justify the cost, and I like the way the c5z drives better.

So I already talked a bit with my local shop and they will be sending me a build sheet and price list as soon as I send them my goals. But basically the modifications will be pretty standard stuff, nothing crazy, I just wanted to get some opinions from the guys on here. The shop is reputable and does great work, and their tuner is supposed to be excellent.

Car: 2002 c5 Z06, 10,000 miles, all stock

Goals: A more aggressive street car, some chop to the idle, slightly louder exhaust note, better throttle response, and more power, at least 400 to the wheels.

Mods:
- Custom ground cam and supporting mods
- Headers ARH 1 3/4" LT with HF cats for New York State,
- Intake
- Ported throttle body
- Tune
- Ti exhaust mod - if their fabricator can do it.

For the cam this is what their website says:
"Others have tried to copy it, but they just can't perform the same as this FTI profile due to it's proprietary lobes. Expect gains of 45-50 rwhp from this cam, specs are roughly 228/232 .600/.612 111 LSA. This is our most popular cam profile, stock like driveability, nice lopey idle, and great performance"

What will this mean for me? I have done some research and not sure to which range this cam swings, mild or wild?

They gave a rough estimate of 2500 for the TB port, cam, tune, springs, pushrods, retainers, and some other stuff, and then the TI mod and the headers will be extra. If i can get all this done for under 5k is this a good deal or should I skip it and look elsewhere? I have already kind of given up on resale of the car and now plan to keep it for awhile.

Any opinions and tips would be much appreciated!

Great daily cam. If you want 230* duration+ your gonna give a little in the form of drivability to get that extra mid-top end rip... in general(I know there are guys out there with "rad" tuners that got their 242/256 .900/.900 cam in a 346 to drive like stock)

I went with the bigger version of that cam(Streetsweeper)...love it.

That cam definitely chops at idle for being a s'medium sized cam. You'll get plenty into the 400's. 420-425rwhp I'd guess. Few guys with GTO's out here run it, they are right around there. Wouldn't be surprised to see a bit more.

Good intake, exhaust, tune and that thing should rip.

Awesome, that is good news, sounds like it will be a great little set up for now, I am excited to see where this will go.
