Have any Crescent City travel tips?
I have a few goals for my trip the wife and I are planning this July in our Vette. I have never been this far North in Cali and am looking for travel tips on scenic route must see's, places to stay, places to eat and anything else that might be helpful based on your experiences. Any places that are a must avoid?
Our initial plan is we will be leaving from the Boise Idaho region in my 2001 Coupe and travelling west across Oregon to Klammath Falls, and swing South West from there to Crescent City. We have 2 days in the area of Crescent city. If you have any experiences with the area that would be great to hear as well.
I don't have Run Flats either so think about that...I normally carry just a plug kit and a small compressor. Is that sufficient?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

I don't know how much time you have but going up the California/Oregon coast is an awesome sight to see. I driven the complete West Coast when I was younger in 1988 in my GTA Trans Am from Sacramento up to Vancouver, BC, then back down all the way down the Pacific Coast back to the Bay Area in a couple of weeks with stops along the way as it was one of my best road trips.

It depends on what you like of course but Crater Lake north of Klamath Falls is nice. Eureka, south of Cresent City, is a neat town with a lot of Victorian homes, antique stores and good places to eat. You will enjoy all the fun roads to drive, a lot of nice scenery.

I was in that area a few years ago. If your time permits, by all means go to to Crater Lake Natl Park.
It's so beautiful. You can walk down (long walk) to the crater/lake. Then take a wonderful scenic boat trip all around Crater Lake itself. Well worth it, if time permits. But, it's a long walk back up.
Getting over to the Coast, if you have time, drive north along 101 to Gold Beach. Beautiful drive, and then you can take a scenic speed boat trip up the Rogue River. Chance to see Bears, Eagles, deer, etc. It was very nice. I think it took 3 or so hours. Lots of really interesting Rock formations just off the coast in the Ocean along the Oregon Coast. They remind me of mountains in China, looking more like camel hump-backs.
Driving back down to Crescent city is a nice drive, along the coast. There, of course, is the Jedediah Smith Woods access to the giant Redwoods. Couple of different places to drive to, and then really nice hiking paths get you out amongst the giant Redwoods. Amazing!
Several sceninc lighthouses and touristy sites along the drive down to Eureka.

Wasn't really thinking about Crater Lake...sounds like a great diversion and not too far off the original path. I am really looking forward to this trip...Thanks for the suggestions all.

The Hellgate river run is a great attraction. It is a jet boat ride on the Rogue River. I prefer the Lunch run. You usually get a little wet and it can be pretty cool on the way back on the dinner run.
This is in Grants Pass, Oregon (Southern Oregon) just off of I-5.
