I hope someone can help me out. Yesterday when I started my 2001 corvette up only the right light door opened, it is dark in my garage. After turning the lights on and off manually a few times the left door started to operate.
Now when the lights go off the left light door closes all the way but then there is a noise coming from the left light door. It lasts about 5 seconds and it sounds like plastic gears grinding or not meshing properly.
I have never taken one the light assemblies out or apart. I have a set of shop manuals but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe
It seems you probably have a broken plastic gear in the headlights.
Get a kit like this one (pay attention because there are 2 different kits: one for "97 to early 2000" and another for "late 2000 to 2004") and follow these step-by-step directions. You'll save money and they will last forever
You might need these as well (the rubber bump stops).
There is a TSB, that calls for shimming the driver's side motor. The parts needed for this are included in the above mentioned kit.
