Looking for tire replacements.
I know this topic has probably been beaten to death.
From what I have read:
Nitto Nt05s...great dry traction, good price, wear and life 12-15k
Bf Rivals...good dry traction, fair price, loud after some wear and 12-15k.
Michilin PS2...good all road condtions, very expensive, 20k life.
Original Goodyears...average traction, expensive, average wear.
Continentials ?
Any other options?
Looking for tires for good dry street use.....weekend fun car, no rain, no snow.
Toyo R888s. Superb handling, excellent straight line traction (up to 600+ WHP), 12-15K+ mile wear life, reasonably priced, and not too bad in the rain either. Only downside is a bit noisy.

I recently swapped from 275/295 NT05s to 255/295 Continental DW on the stock wheels.
On the NT05s I did a good bit of street driving and several track weekends. On the street they worked well, when it's warm out and dry. They did OK in rain, but since they start with much less tread depth new than most tires, they quickly become sketchy in the rain if there's standing water. I don't normally drive this car when it's raining, but inevitably I'd get stuck in the rain once in a while driving the car to/from a trip or something like that.
The biggest drawback with the DW is the softer sidewall I think. You can feel the sidewall flexing when you turn the car vs a more direct/sharp feeling you get with the NT05s. The DW tire itself has great grip, it's more of a feeling thing here. This drawback also gives the tire a comfortable soft ride.... I would prefer a bit stiffer, but that's just my personal preference. DW is great in the rain, dry grip is great and works better at lower temps (I live in FL, but on a colder day the NT05s would feel like bricks until warmed up).
On the track the NT05s were consistent and wore well. Haven't had the DW on the track, I'm guessing it wouldn't handle the heat as well.
Overall I feel like the DW is a better all around street tire. More well rounded and more than enough grip for street driving. There are certainly better tires out there, but options are very limited for stock wheel sizes (I'm still waiting for someone to pop into this thread and recommend Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires....which aren't available in stock wheel sizes).
