I did a bit of a search and didn't see where someone has tried this, so if it's an old subject, I apologize in advance. I've had the smeary interior windshield problem and did a trial tonight with a Magic Eraser (melamine foam). I've seen where folks have used it to clean interiors, skuffs on seats, sills etc., but not for cleaning the windshield. I used white vinegar 1/10 ratio to water (approximately) and sank the M. Eraser in it. I squeezed most of it out and went to work on the inside and outside of the windshield. I used some of those blue paper shop towels to dry it off. It worked extremely well, so I also cleaned the mirrors with it, and no streaks at all.
I think the secret from the OP might be the Magic Eraser. I might try it!
That was my point exactly. The Magic Erasers are inexpensive and tend to last a while. Or you could pay for a special microfiber towel. I tried using the old newspaper and vinegar water, but it didn't work too well.
I also used the eraser/vinegar water to remove bugs from the nose, seemed to work pretty well there too.

If your steering wheel has become too slick and shiny from all the cleaners, conditioners and dare I say use, the Magic Eraser will bring back that new satin appearance and resulting grip lost over the years. Did mine and it looks and feels just like my new Silverado.
I have tried lots of products. The magic eraser is a keeper. I use that and water and vinegar on the inside and Chadwicks on the outside. Seems to work really well. I think waxing your windshield is the best way to eliminate the streaks.
