Default Another tire thread

I apologize in advance for starting another tire thread,
I recently bought a new to me 2000 C5. It had on it a set of BFG G Force tires that are starting to rot. Date code on the tires are 2007 and 2008.
After reading the reviews I had decided on the Michelin PS2 but it seems they don't produce them in the sizes that came on it.
I am now looking at the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Does anyone recommend this tire or suggest I choose a different tire altogether?

I have stock wheels and went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3. They made a huge difference in the handling and ride of the car. I replaced Toyo tires that were worn out when I got the car.

I do not run the Michelins on my car, but I do have a set of the Hankook Ventus V12s on it. I have been very pleased with their performance.

My opinion is that michelin super sports are overpriced. Get the hankooks.

And your tires are so old that they're a safety hazard at this point!

I agree on the overpriced Michelins. Depending on what you expect from the tires and how you drive your car, different tires may suit different people. The ankooks Ventus V12 are a good economical choice, but for just a few bucks more you can get Nitto Invos, which are going to be better than what most people need and still considerably cheaper than Michelins. Also don't expect much life (relatively speaking) from the Pilot Super Sports.

Many C5 owners have changed wheel sizes and/or tire sizes and we have no information to start with to be able to help you.
It has the factory wheels still on it.
Front 245/45ZR-17
Rear 275/40ZR-18

I agree they are a safety issue. They still have almost all of the tread left. They are very hard and starting to dry rot. Thanks for the info.

I had the same issue (fairly common) as I had tires with 2004 date codes. The Michelin's I wanted were back ordered. The other model was 1500+. I went with Conti EC DW's. Great tire for the $. Superb traction and handling for how I drive anyway. Rated well for wet too in case mother nature throws a surprise at me..
