driver side mirror issue

driver side mirror issue
My driver side mirror is loose. It rotates or swivels at the mid point on the mirror. So it is very loose between the mirror body and the mount point. Do I need to correct this by pulling off the door panel, or do I somehow need to get behind the mirror glass to tighten a nut? Thanks!

Sounds like you have the infamous floppy mirror syndrome. Happened to me too. Came out to the garage one morning to find it had just let loose. Really lousy way for the GM guys to mount the mirror. I fixed mine and its very doubtful it will ever happen to that mirror again, however, I will probably have to fix the passenger mirror some day as well. Sigh...
