C6 Shifter Install
Have received a C6 shifter and C6 shift **** for my '04; couple of questions:
1. Is the shift **** held on by a simple screw or is there something special?
2. I think the C6 shifter is a direct drop-in replaced for the C5 shifter, is this correct? If not, what do I need to do?
3. Does the C5 boot fit / work or do I need to mod?

Just swapped one into my 03Z yesterday so I'll answer best I can.

Just held in place with a T20 screw I believe
2. I think the C6 shifter is a direct drop-in replaced for the C5 shifter, is this correct? If not, what do I need to do?
Yes direct drop in not fitment issues what so ever.
3. Does the C5 boot fit / work or do I need to mod?
Yes and no. It is a little too small in the top and needs to be stretched to make it work, but it is doable.

Yes direct drop in not fitment issues what so ever.

Yes and no. It is a little too small in the top and needs to be stretched to make it work, but it is doable.

Just wanted to complete this thread:
I installed the C6 shifter and ****....very easy to do.
I was able to use the C5 shifter boot without any modifications. Just used a small screwdriver to stretch the leather a bit over the C6 **** and pull it up over the mounting screw and perfect.
Wow is that ever nice. Just enough of a shorter throw without greatly increasing effort. Sure like the C6 **** looks too. The C5 **** is the same as the C4s...well except R is forward instead of aft....give the interior a bit of a "kick."

Congrats on a nice mod to your car. A better shifter can make a world of difference in driving the car.
