Today I remember those who have given all so that we may enjoy the freedoms only found in America. Among those are my father, WWII and my fellow soldiers who bravely gave their lives in Iraq and Afganistan. And to all those who have served and all still serving I salute you.
Look, I don't want to sound like a dick but Memorial Day is for those who gave their life to keep us safe. Armed Forces Day and Veterens Day are for thanking present and past members of our armed forces. Yes it's nice to say thanks to past and present military but they will understand this is a special day. To those families who's family member gave all, thank you.

Excellent point, and as a veteran of 10 years (and 2 deployments) in the U.S. Army (67N, 67T, 15T, OIF), I can't overemphasize the focus today is on my brothers and sisters that were far less fortunate than myself. Keep 'em in your thoughts!
I am so proud to be allowed to salute the flag as a civilian now because that flag represents our freedom. On this day we honor those who gave their lives to keep our freedom safe so on this day, I salute those friends, comrades in arms, bothers and sisters ,who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

My thoughts this day are with all those who served in the defense of our nation and sacrificed all, many of whom never came home. May they all rest in peace.

Point well made.
We don't honor those who served enough, never have. We continue to disrespect them by the VA that barely serves their needs.
In my mind AFD, VD and MD are all opportunities to give thanks to those that gave some or those that gave all so we can sleep peacefully every night.
The best way I can honor today those that have given their lives to protecting our freedom is not to let our country once again fight someone else’s war like we did in Vietnam (my service) and more recently Iraq.

My deepest respect goes out to those that paid the ultimate price.
