Default Lost Twilight sensor

The defroster grill on my 2004 was all cracked up from time and the sun. When I popped it out to replace with a new one the Twilight sensor and wire fell down in the vent. Any suggestions how I might fish that out?

Unless you can see it, you may have to remove the dash pad to get to it. Not sure if you could get to it by taking the radio out.

All Twilight sensors do is wear out your headlight gear. I disabled mine when I bought my car. You might want to leave it off.

I have removed the HVAC control before so I know how to get to the radio. Might give that a try. Thanks!

Yeh I agree and mine has always been disabled. Just kinda bugs me that its down in the vent like that. I'm not going to be in any big hurry to go fishing for it.

You're right. I would want to fix it too.

That sensor does double duty, twilight sentinel and sun load for the HVAC.

I agree. One of the first things I did when I bought mine was to disable the twilight sentinel and seat easy entry.

If the sentinel pops your headlights up, that usually means you need to turn them on anyways, no? Why would your gears get worn out worse? Because of the times you stop to get gas and they go down then back up?

Because they pop up every time you start your car in the garage or when you pull it into the garage. My headlights popped up more times in the first week I owned it when the sentinel was on than they have in the last three years with it off.

Not true. The headlight sensor is on the left (just a hole in the grill)and the sun load sensor is on the right (under the bubble).

I don't remember the colors of the wires. I think they were purple and gray. At any rate, they feed to the driver's side footwell. If you figure out which wires they are, you can pull them back into the footwell and use a coat hanger or fish tape to get them back to where you want it.

Try looking through the windshield into the opening. Maybe it is just out of sight from the passenger compartment. With a little cooperation from a helper, you may be able to hook it from the top.

I thought the sun load sensor was on the other side of defroster vent.

Just checked, I was remembering the C6 setup where the sun load and twlight sensor are the same. C5 is two separate sensors.
