Father in law picked up a 76' tonight, got to drive it... Also first time driving a C4, both much different from my C5, as expected. C3 is about as unrefined as it comes, yet I loved it. C4, I also enjoyed. It was a great corvette experience evening!

You're right - you can really tell the difference in the generations when you drive them back to back to back. I've had an example of each of those generations and like you, enjoyed each one.
I thoroughly enjoyed ALL my C3's and C4's, but when I got my C5 16 years ago, I knew I found "The One"! Although I love parts of the C7's interior, I do not feel the burn for a C6 or C7.

I quite frequently look into c6's and c7's... I still can't justify getting one, atleast not yet. My 04 is paid for, mint and only has 57k. Maybe in a few years when the prices drop more. C3 was a blast!

Spot on... Was happy to have the opportunity to drive both back to back from rhode island into conn and back to ri. 👍🏻
I currently own a C5 and came from a C4. My next Corvette purchase was going to be a C6Z or a C7, but I have a soft spot for a C3. Sounds like a fun filled day.
I had a '79 C3 white with mirror T tops. VERY different from C5. Traction control and active handling were controlled by right foot and hands on steering wheel. A/C never worked very well. But all in all much fun.
Awesome, I'm now looking for an 81, 4 speed. The reason I want one, the year I was born! Would look nice on the side of my 04.
Go drive one first. My old roomate had a really nice 23,000mi '80 4spd in red over black. It looked great but wasn't much fun to drive. 190hp is not enough.

The C3's were very underpowered in the late seventies and early eighties although they looked nice. Combine that with the fact a large percentage were automatic they just would not go. I have had five of them, most from the late sixties when they had some power. When the C4's arrived they woke up in 1985 with tuned port injection so I bought one. By the time the C5 arrived they were back to being performance cars again.
Love my '99 6m vert, just a great driving car with more than adequate performance. I've owned a number of other vettes, skipping the inbetween vettes, had a very nice absolutely problem free '76 350 4spd that wouldn' get out of its own way, nice cruiser though. On the other end was a 71 454 4spd that had every option that could be had on a big block car, a wonderful car that I dearly wish I hadn't sold in a bout of temporary insanity! In truth, I love just about anything with a motor and wheels or wings, just have a special spot for corvettes! Take care y'all!
