Appears it is. After seeing a post of a gentleman stating dyno gain of 6hphttp://www.ws6.com/mod-8.htm, I thought why not. Ran a test on Intake temps before and after.
Decrease of IAT sensor temps of 7 degrees, which plays a role on timing maps in the PCM. Also checked temps on heat soaked TB before and after and temps dropped from 228 avg to 212 average.
Its a useless mod theirs no difference, engine bay will still heatsoak regardless if stock, Get an actual CAI, some headers and call it a day.
Fwiw last year I had to smog(Cali) my car, I took off my exhaust and CAI I have a phone app that allows me to monitor my vehicles smog, iat, others etc. with my vararam on my intake air temperature would always be two degrees higher then what it read outside. On my smog day with everything reverted to stock, the smog shop I use is 5 minutes away, halfway their my intake air temperatures were reading 100-105 degrees this was in 65 degrees ambient temperature. On my way back home it was in between 115-125. Heatsoak sucks. Car didnt feel as peppy...
