Same here... Started with looking at a 99 911. Then a C5. Went with C5 Coupe. Wanted more so looked at C5/C6. There is not a lot I can say that has not been posted but my "gut" and my "a$$ dyno" told me C5Z was the upgrade. And heck, it looks like this and that's just purdy in my book.... Good luck- good dilemma to have...

Every base C6 I drove before buying my C5Z felt meh. The moment I drove a C5Z I knew I had to have one.

I would probably go with a C5Z based on the price and upgraded parts used in the car, but for the right money an '08+ C6 wouldn't be a bad buy.

C6 is more refined, has a faster top speed, is quicker in the quarter. But don't like the look of the base model and tires are more expensive. Lol
When and under which conditions is a base C6 quicker in the 1/4 than a C5 Z06?

C5 Z06= 0-60 3.9 seconds, 1/4 mile: 12.4 seconds 117 MPH

2008 and up C6 Base 0-60 4.1 seconds 1/4 mile: 12.4 116 MPH

If anything, the C5 Z06 is a little quicker and faster (but only a tick so). I agree with the rest of the post.

I've been looking hard at C5z's but love my slight mods c5 coupe a lot. I think only a c6 LS3 Z51 would warrant a purchase. But the cheapest one around here is 24k and just sold. Twice the value I can sell my coupe for. I have a feeling unless a 08 Z51 pops up cheap, I'll continue to daily drive and upgrade my coupe.

I drove a base c6 and it was a very neat car. More comfy driver

Any advice would be appreciated.
DON'T buy a 2015 Chevy SS

drive them both and let that help guide you. That being said...the C5 is such a great value for the $$$. Also...don't forget about FRC....in 99 and 00 this was the precursor to the Z06....hardtop in those two years....you can find some great deals on these and if you are gonna mod it and track it some anyway...then that's more $$ for modding!

Well I test drove a c5z and a c6 a6 with some mods and we can see which one I ended up getting. Plus the c5 owner started playing games with me, and my wife wasn't a fan of the frc look.

Why didn't you tell us that it was the wife's decision. That would have changed the replies.
