My HUD bezel has several cracks. I have heard there is a cover that fits over the old one. Has anyone tried this. I want to fix it right but won't have time to take the dash out in the near future so was looking for a temporary fix unless it looks hokey.

Exactly. I just pulled out a few pieces, and snapped in my new one. I used a bit of black RTV on a couple of underside contact points to prevent vibration with the dash, but it would work without it. You'll need to get out the old screw fittings from the dash holes, but it's pretty easy.
Cultrag sells it for $35 plus shipping, and they're a good vendor:
So.... Are you saying getting the old screw bases is a fairly simple task? I'm wondering now how the new one I've ordered is constructed? Will it be a " snap" in kinda thing or will it be made with screw bases thinking I've removed the dash pad😳😳? Suppose I'll find out the answer to that question once it arrives....

Just be careful when you "snap" out the old, cracked one. Don't get any tools in there, prying or anything- You'll crack your hud glass, or worse, your windshield. As you "snap" out the old one, with appropriate force, you'll break away the old screw caps. Once you've gotten rid of all the debris (critical- you don't want a rattle from there), test fit the new one and then RTV it strategically at the old screw points and along the inner edges for a nice, rattle free install.
