Little collection of grass, bugs and other crud I found today. Time to get the vacuum out! May want to check yours before it gets really warm out

This was just from laying down in front and scooting under a couple inches-not even lifted. Easy enough I vacuumed some out with a shop vac but waiting on a new one coming in this week that has smaller attachments that will get in there easier.

I check the front of the radiator every time I wash the car and clean as needed. Only takes a couple of minutes if you do it regularly.

And a good time to clean the front of the radiator is when you have the Corvette on front ramps when changing the oil.

Installed a screen in front of air dam keeps junk from getting sucked up
home depot radiator screen cut to fit.

I like the screen idea-I'm amazed at how much stuff these cars pick up off the street.

I made DIY wood ramps just for the purpose to get under the car to vacuum the radiator. Used 2X10 (actual finished cut is 11/2 X 9"). Total height is 3". Total ramp length is 30" for each ramp; first step is 12" long and second is 18". Beveled the approach edge on each step. I put carpet squares on the bottom. Then slid the ramps in back of the front tires and rolled backwards. It was then easier to see what was against the radiator. Good luck cleaning yours.

The cottonwood trees in my neighborhood have been dropping cotton ***** for the last few weeks.... my car started overheating the other day so I pulled the radiator shroud and cotton was sucked into the radiator covering it almost entirely! Used a variety of brushes/pipe cleaners to gently brush the cotton, seeds and peoples out of the fins on the radiator and ac condenser.
The cars been running cool since then...... Definitely worth check especially if your temps are creeping up in traffic

I put mine up on Rhino ramps and remove the two 10mm bolts holding on the chin splitter.

That's exactly what I did with mine last year.

looks to me like it blocks a lot of air flow. Add up all the surface area of the 'grill' and i bet it is reducing the exposed surface area by quite a bit

I did my car years ago. I used a less restrictive type of screen that is actually used to reinforce plaster work. Works great and keeps out an amazing amount of junk. Prior to the screen I once found a french fry container stuck up in my radiator.

I also installed a lower screen and in my previous post you could see all the crap that still ended up on the condenser screen so I added the finer screen to the lower one and now that catches most. Even with the amount of debris on my condenser screen I still ran normal temps. I think the screen keeps the crap out of the cores and that I believe is the difference!!!!!
