I would like to upgrade exhaust. I know it's been discussed before. I was wondering on amazon they have cat back. 304 s.s for 419.00. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum, from another Y2K driver. I would not buy any exhaust I did not listen to first. My car has a cheap no name set up that I am not fond of, at least there is no drone associated with it. Good luck with your new ride. Mike

I recently purchased my white 2000 coupe with 65k miles and the first mod that I did was buying the XS Power Catbacks for $650.
I read many reviews on them before I pulled the trigger and I would have to agree with most, they are great for the money.

Good luck with your new to you vette! I wouldn't buy any exhaust unless I could hear it in person. Try to attend a local vette club event, run etc to get a chance to talk with other owners and listen to their cars. Best wishes!

Good advice on hearing an exhaust before you buy. Everyone has different tastes in what sounds good and you don't want to make a costly mistake.

Sometimes I forget all the good stuff my car had that didn't cost me extra since it was equipped with a complete Corsa system among other things. I doubt I would buy the Amazon system unless I had first hand experience with it.

OP,
Welcome.

You can buy used C5 ZO6 Titanium cat-backs for 3 to $400.00. There is usually a set for sale here on the forum, or will be from time to time. Guys take them off their Z's, looking for 'more' sound.

They are Titanium, will never rust out, sound better than stock, and they weigh Less than 1/2 what the stock cat-backs do. You can also do what's called the Ti-Mod to them (which I've done, and love) which will open up the sound a little more, especially under heavy throttle. Some say they flow a little more air too, not sure about that.?.

But later, you can always sell them to someone else, and probably get all your money back (minus shipping) if you want something different.

The weight savings with the Ti's is substantial, and worth considering.

This is one option you can consider. Good luck.

Don

I wouldn't cheap out on the exhaust. You (as well as people around you) will have to live with that sound every day you drive the car. Nothing worse than a crappy sounding exhaust note. I was lucky that my car already had a Corsa axle back system when I bought it. I just added Kooks headers. It's exactly the sound that I want, wouldn't change a thing.

As for the cheap Amazon product, the old " you get what you pay for " adage comes to mind.

Ti=Titanium. Mod shown above, welding in the small bypass pipe into the exhaust. Allows some of the exhaust gas to exit directly.
