Default Improving frog eyes lighting

So I finally got the frog gees aimed to the road ( previous owner had them shining the trees) but even with the beam in the right spot the light output is horrible. I am by no means a lighting expert but want to do something with these things while I continue my quest for a complete factory setup. Has any one put upgraded halogens or hid bulbs in them with good results? Any suggestions are welcome.

Since I installed some sort of (I don't recall the brand, maybe Sylvania's) super white stock bulb and had the pros adjust how they are aimed, I don't have a problem seeing the road at night like before. Sure, they could be better but a better bulb and proper adjustment helped a LOT!

Get in contact with one of the forum lighting vendors (theradioflyer comes to mind).

The problem is the light source being halogen. If I recall it's an H7 55w. Projectors spread out light over a substantially larger area than a reflector so the light intensity per unit area is diminished.

The H7 halogen produces about 1500 lumens. an HID source would produce nearly double that.

Most modern halogen projectors (including the C6 high beam) use an H9 halogen that produces 2000 lumens. It's not quite HID output, but much better than than most halogen bulbs.

Thanks guys. I would love to have the radio flyer setup but it is not in the budget at the moment. Looks like I will be dealing with it as is until I can get flip ups back on the car.

Have you checked with Marc@Vettenuts about the popup assemblies you need? Might PM him and see what he has and how much...

Sounds like the best plan.

Probably not something you want to hear, but I'd switch back to the original lights. IMHO, They look a lot better on the C5 than the frog lights do.

Depending on the condition you may be able to sell them to offset the cost of stock ones.

Go with OEM. Those projectors are very low quality. Don't expect much out of those frogs.
