Thanks everyone for the great input! I greatly appreciate it! Based on all the input here, even if I decided to risk it, the price is to high for it to be a branded title. I had not even thought of checking with my insurance company about covering it. Whew!

The story from the current owner (3rd owner) is that back in its first few years as a lease car in NJ, it had a right window motor problem and the dealer took it back off lease. Of course there is no way to prove that without some documentation. The Carfax also shows a transmission replacement back in '01 when it was a lease. I would think that would be more of a reason to take it back off of a lease. Anyway, the current owners have had it for a while now and supposedly have all the service records and such. It is one state over, so I have not gone to look at it yet. With what they are asking versus prices suggested here, we are already to far apart even if it is in great shape now. It looks immaculate, but looks don't show the story of functionality and performance. Thanks again everyone.

Very happy for you that you passed that one by. Take a look at this forums C5's for Sale page, lots of C5's pass through those pages. Also lots of sites to look at via armchair and interweb. If I may, please let me advise you to be very fussy, lots of very nice and well maintained C5's out there for a fair price. Be sure to check accident history, maintenance history and a thorough bumper to bumper check by a C5 fluent shop/tech, very important. C5's, though older, are still complicated cars and you want to take all possible steps to preclude the purchase of a problem C5. A well maintained and problem free C5 is the performance bargain of the century in my humble opinion, but you have to choose carefully. If you have any thoughts or questions on a car you are looking at, get back to this forum for help. The membership here is the most helpful and knowledgeable I've seen. Happy hunting and best wishes!

Thank you and everyone else for your input. I have been hunting the C5 forum here. I missed out on a gorgeous one that was only 2 hours from me because I have a car that needs to sell before I buy. So, I have been scoping out C5's to look at once it does sell. I have a guy who has looked at it once and may be bringing his wife by tomorrow to take a look. At least you all educated me on the branded title during my surfing/bookmarking phase.
