As the title states, planning a trip in the vert. Leaving Maine on Aug 10 and driving to southwest Fl. Taking 84 to 81 to 77 to 26 to 95 to 75. I know all highway. Will be staying in Fl for 3 days at my parents. Leaving Mon for Nashville and Bowling Green of course. Factory tour and museum tour on the 16th (our 30th anniversary, what a wife!). Need to fill in five days for the trip home. I was thinking the Tail of the Dragon and over to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the parkway to Skyline Drive. Hit the Luray Caverns in Va, and ???? Any input would be appreciated. Probably going to do 4,000 miles in 11 days.
Thanks Bob

Have a safe cruise. For the most part, that's the way we came down from NY to Rotonda West in SWFLA 3 times. Only from 95 to 75, we took 10 west to 301. Wave when you get close!
As for the TOTD, I'd like to do that one of these days. As for the Parkway and Skyline, in the Fall that would be a gorgeous drive if you're not in a rush. This time of year - it's a very boring 30mph siege, slow and green, green, and more green. But to each their own.
Luray Caverns are cool and a Segway tour of the Gettysburg battlefield is a great experience as well.
If you can hit Asheville and then the Biltmore Mansion(in particular) they are both great. We've been on the Blue Ridge twice, both times in an RV, so the scenery was fantastic, the drive? Staunton, Va., is a neat old town with a very interesting glass works with daily demos.
