you used the alignment jig that came with the shifter ???? After 18,000 miles mine goes in reverse a little tight, but not worth talking about ???
If anything call George at MGW he would be glad to help you.

Try sticking it in 1st, first just barely let the clutch engage (gently rock it forward) and then shift to Reverse... see if that helps

Never has been a problem for me. I had the original design and I just traded it in for the updated version with the MGW Lower Box. Both have worked perfectly from the get-go.
Make 100% sure the shifter is aligned (the newest version makes it super easy with their new alignment jig) and the mounting bolts are tightened appropriately.
I'm thinking about getting an MGW so I would like to hear if this is indeed an issue?
With my stock shifter I never knew what gear I was in, there was so much slop in the factory shifter it was like hit or miss. The MGW I know instantly what gear I'm in. First to second can't be much easier, second to third is just pushing the shifter forward and when in third, third to fourth is the same as first to second, easy !!!! fourth to fifth is just gently pushing the shifter to the right. From fifth to fourth is just gently pulling toward me a bit, third to second the same. The feel is what I love the most, even before I get it all the way into whatever gear I want, I know instantly which gear I'm hitting. Reverse takes the most effort compared to any other gear, but it is not like it's a chore, again I know instantly whether it's reverse or fifth !!!! As other have said it has loosened after miles, and I also did the Anti Venom Mod !!(one washer)
Installed mine about 3 weeks ago, Hurst Billet was in the car when I bought it was okay but the MGW is really starting to shine, no problems getting into reverse. I did use the alignment tool.
