I need some information. I have read in some past posts that there is an amber light in the rear view mirror that illuminates the shifter area. I have checked mine and see no light like that. Couldn't find any mention of it in the owners manual either. What am I missing here. My mirror is not the auto dimming type. Thanks in advance for any help.
Owners manual from my 04 indicates that the lights on the mirror are only for the automatic dimming mirror and not the manual mirror. I think that probably would be the same for all years so I would not expect your manual mirror to have any lighting on it at all.
Mine is an '01 so this may be why it's not equipped with the light. thanks for the response.
My 99 had the light and I believe my 02 does as well but I never checked to see if I have "auto dim"... Guess I would have to break down and actually drive somewhere at night (lol)
The spotlight is a nice little touch, I installed an 03 z06 mirror with the autodim on my 99 and it's amazing how much a mirror can change driving at night.

I think the real number for the 02 Z06 Manual light is really about 7HP loss, but you can make your ridiculous HP claims if you like, others do it as well...
By the way... did you know you can gain 1 HP@ wheel, by using the proper torque specs for the valve stem covers?! Sorry, that's ONLY if your filling your tires with air... not nitrogen.

You do realize I'm joking right? It's called humor or sometimes sarcasm...

My OEM '99 standard (meaning NON autodim) mirror had the amber light on the bottom side.
It was offset to the right side of the passenger map light, not in the center like the later (beginning in '01) electrochromic (RPO code DD8) mirrors.
Thusly:
Standard NON "autodim"
RPO code DD8 Electrochromic mirror ("autodim") available in the 2001 model year
