Default tech2 scanner for the home DIYer?

Hey guys,

Anyone have any reviews/recommendations for a decent scan tool for a 5th gen corvette - Ideally one that does GM cars around this age as I have a '97 f body as well.

You can get cloan GM tech2 scanners on ebay for reletively cheap, but I'm concerned with the quality after reading this review:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/GM-TECH-2-Di...8110787/g.html

Anyone have any suggestions for someone who wants to do their own diagnosis and repairs?

I know there are cheap bluetooth obd2 scan tools, but my understanding is they wont pull abs and airbag diagnosis/codes for my 97 fbody because it uses a obd1 bus on a obd2 port. NOt sure about the c5 in this respect though.

Any input appreciated.

The '94 and '95 F body and Corvettes are OBD1 with an OBD2 connector. Starting in '96 all of them are OBD2.

I don't have any help for you on the Tech 2, but I hope you post what you find out with your new one. I am considering one too.

Good luck.

Will definitely post how I get on with the chinese tech2 scanner. My '97 fbody has obd2 BUT the airbag and abs goes on the old obd1 serial bus which prevents a standard reader from pulling the codes.

Anyway as i'm from NZ it will no doubt take a couple of months to arrive..so ill post results sometime then..
