Default Headlight Gear - DIY rotating arm??

Is there any DIY on rotating the motor arm 180 degrees to get a fresh side of the gear to engage? I can't even seem to find a diagram of what the "arm" is on the motor.

I know - go buy a new gear! I don't really have time for that and need a quick fix. I have heard of this working but only with words that are rather non descriptive of the process.

Thanks!

No different than the Rodney Dicky thread - rather than inserting the brass gear just turn the existing plastic gear 180

I hear it doesn't need to be opened to rotate the existing gear. I'll search for his post.

You might get lucky with the manual **** but will never know if you've moved to the other side of the worm gear.

Is the manual **** the one under the cover or is that just to raise the headlight?

It can raise or lower - it is a direct connection to the worm. Problem is whether the work catches the rest of the worm gear when trying to catch the other 180 degrees - hence you really need to open that little gear box.

Just put in metal gears and be done with it. I found them for about 30 bucks each free shipping on eBay. Nice Saturday afternoon project. By the time you take the arm loose and spin the gear could have fixed it permanently.

I apologize. My previous response was a bit snooty and did not answer your question.
To get yours existing gears to engage at 180 degrees, disconnect Battery. disconnect the arm from the motor
Just remove nut from shaft and gently pry arm off with flat screwdriver. Now manually rotate motor 180 degrees and reconnect arm. Manually raise and lower lights before reconnecting battery.

Thank you. This is helpful. I understand getting a new gear but I can't have my headlights not working while I wait on shipping.

Is there anyway you could show me a picture of what is considered the arm?
I imagine it can be accessed without even removing the whole assembly.

Here is a link that shows the entire repair process

It doesn't show the arm too well. When you get to where you can see the motor you will see the arm connected to the motor shaft held on with a net. Remove the nut and gently pry the arm off the shaft. Good luck!

Great photo! Thank you. I'll have to get to it to see what people mean about rotating it but while I don't have trouble not driving at night I have had trouble finding time to do a complete replacement.
