Chrome handles see a lot of use, acid in your finger tips can causes a reaction to the chrome plating, and over time wears heavily on the plating. They look very out of place, today. But then there is always a need to be different and enough interest for someone to manufacture them. There is no clear and defined reason, not to get them if someone likes them , after all no one should do anything to appeal to someone other then themself.

Exactly. Chrome isn't my thing, but I can respect the last owner for doing what she wanted to the car.
I think you should keep the handles I know a guy who May be parting out a Vette soon at his paint shop, he has a set of tail light covers that are chrome/flame that would fit in perfectly.
