Started the car on Friday and the whole dash started shaking. I shut the blower fan off and parked the car. Did some research on here to figure out where and how to remove the blower fan. I didn't realize you had to be acrobatic to get in there. After setting for a few days till i had time to tackel this project the smell was apparent that i was in store for some mice. Low and behold thats what I found.
I tried to clean and vacuum as much as I could reach. Is there something i can use to deter the mice from getting in there. i have set traps in the garage to hopefully catch any other ones.
I have made sure my garage is tight (no little holes) new weather strips around the overhead doors, and the bottom seal I filled with memory foam, seals very well. I also never leave my doors open !!!!

You'd be amazed at the size of hole they can fit through. You can't stop them.
Believe it or not, dryer sheets placed in the car will keep them out. No idea why, don't care... But it works

, they can fit through a hole the size of a dime. I too do the dryer sheets but I've heard of mice making a nest with them. I also do Irish Spring soap as I've read mice hate the smell.

Aw crap!! Was going to try the dryer sheet thing, but, never mind!

if you park the car inside you can use dryer sheets around the garage, there is something in it that they don't like and will stay away... I had a mouse get into my toolbox at work and someone told me about that so I took one of the bottom drawers out and put a couple sheets back there and no more mice since... or you could get one of these
Jeez, when you find that, it's time for a new car.
Not only do you find mice, but there may be poop and pee all over the place too.
What a job to clean that up, bet you're glad you finally found that and did it.
I just recently posted a thread where I had a vacuum hose that apparently was chewed on by mice.

Well all I can tell you is I have NO MICE in my garage (I do keep used dryer sheets in the car, for along with Chadwick's they take the bugs off real easy)
You gotta know a little about mouse psychology. First they have a great nose (not good looking) that can smell a pheromone trail buy the previous mouse. This means when one gets into your garage/car the others simply follow the trail to meet up with their buddies and procreate (make more mouses) That is why Irish spring/drier sheets/ neighbors cat, etc are suggested to mask the trail and hopefully they don't find your Corvette. So you must find the hole or you will forever be cursed with the dreaded mouse. Use many mouse traps/poison/mice glue paper and place along walls especially in corners. Good luck.

I live out in the country surrounded by a corn field. There are mice.
I tried to seal everything on the garage, but they still get in. I don't know how because I can't find any openings. I know they can get through some really small openings.
I gave up on trying to keep them out. Now I have a couple of dozen traps around the edge of the garage. They seem to run along the floor right at the walls. I also have poison both inside and out. I also have some of those sonic devices to keep them out (they don't work).
The traps get about 3 per week. I have to make a point of checking the traps daily and resetting them. However, since I first found they got into the garage and started setting traps, I haven't had damage to the cars since (about 10 years).
Wow...what a drag. Hope the OP solved the problem.
I found mice had nested in my dad's car' engine bay (he had stopped driving, and it sat for quite a while). They are a PITA that's for sure. I've been managing by sealing up his garage/house and trapping on a regular basis. I hadn't heard about some the deterrents mentioned here...but will give 'em try.
Mice? Big deal. Look what I just had to deal with:
And that was the second one...got the first one a week ago.
Wife said there were small black foam pieces on the garage floor. Looks like they were chewing on the foam piece behind/next to/under the battery that routes wiring. I'm lucky they didn't get to the wiring itself!
I've got five big-*** rat traps set as we speak...hopefully there were only two of the little bastards...
I think I found where they were coming in so I got that all sealed off. Crossing my fingers...
I be a little more pro active and aggressive then just leaving dryer sheets
id leave traps and sticky pads all over the place as well as any forms of repellent
Also I would hose the engine bay down a few times with simple green or some strong degreasers, to remove the smell and pheromones the previous poster mentioned
