Good evening vette fans.
I have an 03 . My battery went bad after I started getting abs and traction control service needed. When I got it home I pulled a ton of codes to many to list. So I put a trickle charge on it and it did not change. So I replaced the battery. I checked the volts and it was 12.6 I went in and cleared the codes. Then I started the car. The charge fault system came on. I checked all of my connections I even checked the electric connector with the three plugs put electrical grease on it. Restarted the car and the same thing. I then checked with a volt meter. Battery without running 12.6 with the car running it dropped. With the motor at 2500 rpms no change actually dropped some.Makes me believe alternator is shot. So bottom line what amperage would you select. Do to cash flow probably will go after market. Unles my neighbor who works at a local dealer can get me an AC deco at cost !

I've had bad luck with rebuilt alternators, which is why im staying away from them. When I had my 99Z28, one failed in a week, the next one in a month, put on a brand new oem one and it lasted for over 3 years until i had to get rid of it. Goodluck getting ur problem resolved, doesnt sound like a major problem.
I have a spare alternator for my 2000. I installed a NEW one about 18 months ago. Everything is fine with the car. I dropped my old alternator off at a starter and alternator rebuilding shop in Fort Pierce this morning. They called and said they had to order parts from a supplier in CA. It will ge ready for my pick up on Friday. $60.00.
Seems like there would be a shop somewhere that really knows how to rebuild the Valeo Alternators with the right components where you could mail them in (for those of us that don't have local rebuilders). I spoke with a couple rebuilders in California and they only replace with solid pulleys vs decouplers (needed on automatics).
