Thanks for the replies guys and compliments. I actually would be driving it daily as a part time job over there is already arranged per transfer, but aside from that and visiting family it would be parked most of the time. I'd only be living on campus for the first year although I do not need to but being in junior standing means you can live off campus so it would be until May but even then I would have to park in the college lot.

How often would you be driving the car? Corvettes are notorious for discharged batteries if the car isn't used for 3-4 weeks. If you don't have a way to connect a battery maintainer, you should invest in a jumper pack and keep it in the rear storage compartment. A basic set of hand tools can also be kept in the rear compartments. It would be a good idea to join AAA for their road service!
Good advice. It comes down to how well do you want the car to keep looking good - sitting outside all the time can take a toll on the car.
College kids get drunk and they drive drunk when they have cars. You want to drive a powerful rwd car drunk? **** no.
"But I don't drive drunk." Drunk college kids ****ing love loud cars. You might have no issue with a normal car, but the sports car will be calling to be driven.
Drunk college kids also kick cars. Kick mirrors off. And so on. Townies **** with college kids' cars. Tow trucks tow them. Low-lives steal or try to steal them.
Having a fun car in college is asking for trouble. Get a beater. Beat on it.

I didn't have a Corvette in college but I did have a mustang gt and a mach1, I say do it! You get to make so many friends through the local car club and college car club! Some of my best friends today I met through the college car club (sic em bears!)

Haters gonna hate. Keep your Vette home, safe and secure. Get a car for school that won't have you worried about parking, vandalism, idiot's challenging to race. It's bad enough in the working world dealing with idiot's. Don't risk damage to your Vette by a bunch of juiced up lunk heads.
You guys are pretty out of touch with this current generation aren't you?
I've been in college since 2011, the only two cars I've ever owned during these times were a bright orange 350z and my z06. I did drive my brother in laws 99 cougar for a while too, but that car grabbed attention like either of my cars too.
A kid responsible enough to have a vette for 2 years without issue is likely responsible enough to take the car to college.
Drinking and driving is almost always by need to get the car home, not just because people want to get smashed and go drive around. In fact he's probably less likely to be the one driving, he can only take one friend with him at a time.
I would not take a Corvette to college. Too many bad things can happen. Too much testosterone mixed with alcohol. Not you, but too many idiots in college.
Go for it. I'm enrolled in classes this fall at a local university. I live off campus but plan to drive it to school. What else am I supposed to do ? Buying a second car is a luxury I can't afford. It's a C5 Corvette, not a Ferrari. I'm not worried about haters/vandals. I'll try to park on the far end of the lot like at a grocery store to avoid crowding/door dings. They are rather wide cars, so I never try to "squeeze" into a narrow spot.

I'd err on the side of leaving it home-- unless you're commuting, you'll rarely use it. You'll probably not need a car, period (if you are commuting, go for it). You're going to be hanging out in groups, spending time on campus, and even when you go out, you'll go out in groups -- Most colleges don't even allow freshmen/sophomores to have cars on campus. My guess is that your 'vette will likely be very, very lonely in that parking lot :-) And my experience (both from my college years and working extensively with college professors on technical projects) is that undergrad parking lots are ding magnets for any car. I cringe every time I park my grand cherokee SRT in an undergrad parking lot.. to the point where I'll just suffer the $30 ticket and park in faculty lots.
Anyway, whats the harm in just leaving it home for the first semester, see how things work out, and then bring it up if things look different? worst case, you're a normal carless freshman, best case, you avoid damaging what looks like a really nice car :-)
