Default X pipe question ?

I have a 99 C5 6 speed Stock except for Magnaflow cat-back system and Breathless Vortex air cleaner system. I noticed after installing the Magnaflow system I no longer like to use 6th gear on the highway. It almost feels like I am lugging the motor at 70 mph turning 1400 RPM. Never really noticed this with the stock pipes. Trying to decide if I should cut my H pipe and install a Magnaflow X pipe. Has anyone with my type of setup done this and if so what are your thoughts ? I know the X pipe will have very little effect performance wise. I'm wondering what I can expect sound wise, especially at 70 mph on the highway. Thanks for your comments.

I put an X-pipe on my '00 that I had - mainly to get rid of some nasty drone and popping on deceleration. It also gave the exhaust note a little deeper tone IMO. Really no performance gain.

The Magnaflow mufflers might have a resonance around that RPM that the stock system did not. Unsure if an Xpipe will help, I think it would be better.

Was there noticeable improvement in reducing the drone and popping after installing the X pipe? What I have noticed with the Magnaflow system is the drone only bothers me at 70 mph in 6th gear running 1400 RPM's. I haven't checked to see what effect running in 5th instead of 6th at 70 mph has had on gas mileage but the sound is much better.

I don't have the Magnaflow but I installed a Corsa Sport and was not happy with the tone and popping. I had an x pipe added and could not believe the difference in sound. The popping on decel was also reduced but not eliminated. The muffler shop installer said he always recommends an x pipe with after market exhaust systems. In my case the difference was almost like an entirely different system. This applies to my C5, the Corsa without an x pipe sounds fine on my C6.
