So I'm not sure if this should go here or the tech threads but here we go.
I can snag up a set of crane gold 1.82 rockers for cheap and I mean cheap like if I don't buy em even just to flip I'm retarded.
I have a torquer v2 and 799 heads that have had prc 2.5 headwork done and some sort of dual valve spring I'm not sure of spec.. what I'm worried about is valve clearance with the cam and I'm going to assume to be safe that the heads were decked some.
Will I have any issues installing the extra lift from the rockers or am I better off buying and reselling for some profit
All the big shops use the stock rockers ,I tried a set of Comp 1.8 in my 04 Z lifters were not happy and had valve float @6200 RPM . The people I have talked to B.Tooly Tx. Speed said leave I the stock rockers so went back with stock rockers and the motor is very happy to the tune of 7500 RPM. Just the deal I went through ..

See I've seen things like this and equally as many happy users. Such a toss up on LS motors.
I used them on every sbc build I ever had with fantastic results. But obviously that was a different animal.
I don't know if it's worth me installing just to see my own results. If I don't like them Its harder to resell used rockers than a whole set of in package.....
Still doesn't help me with knowing of they will even work for me in terms of clearance
I had to go to the tall valve covers . I have used them on all my SBC back in the day . MY LS-6 motor like I said was having problems with them installed in my LS-6 with 230/236 600/600 Comp. cam on 112 with Ls-7 lifters just would not run right not happy made some calls TX. Speed B.tooley said go back stock lifters .. With the 1.8 could not get it to over 6200 on LMR rollers went stock and bam 7500 easy . these guys were telling me they use stock rockers on there LS motors up to around 600-700 HP and have no problems.. I got 525 HP.. Just an FYI..
The statement or the rockers LOL. I put a new set of $450.00 rockers in the can .I worked my A^s off trying to get then to work and through one at the cat..
The rockers. Most aftermarket rockers are extremely heavy over the valve tip and that causes valve float.
I spent some time researching and talking to different valvetrain people about rockers for my build and short of shaft mounted Jesel or T&D, everyone of them said to keep the stockers and do the trunion upgrade which I did. I regularly take mine to 73-7500 rpm.
Also, not sure why Brian Tooley said that about the LS7 lifters as they are stock replacement for all LS motors now. More than likely your issue was the 1:8 rockers only. That said, I wouldn't run LS7 lifters, they are known to be problematic and the Cadillac racing lifters arent any better
