I own a beautiful millennium yellow 2000 Convertible. It has 15700 miles with original GY run flats. The car is well maintained. Sunday car. Opinions on whether the tires should be replaced. They are in excellent condition. Car always garaged. I've read over 10 years is a no-go. Any feedback? Thanks Cappy
I was in your same situation last year when I purchased my 99', original run flats, 15k miles. I replaced, and on the day I was getting them installed one of the TPMS sensors gave out. Already was having new sensors installed, but found it funny one went out on day of install. So you may wanna have them replaced too. I went with Schrader 28006s.

Definitely replace them. They're rubber. Ever stretched an old rubber band? Snap!
You know for a guy that puts 1500 miles on a year I would not be so fast spending my money on tires. It has just been a recent thing (no doubt tire manufactures) selling us on the idea that (even garaged car) tires have to be replaced at the ten year mark. I don't believe it, but in the same sentence I would not be doing extended high speed or track driving on old tires. I am in the same situation as you and will sell my Corvette with the original tires. My car '03 has 20k on it and the last thought is spending on tires...JMO!
PS rather spend the money on an all inclusive, lol

Imagine this. One of those 16 year old tires decides to let go at speed.
If you're lucky the car will still be beautiful, if not?
I Ageee! If that tire delaminates at 60 mph, the damage it will cause will bring tears to your eyes! When that happened on a Dodge pickup I own, I was amazed!

Look beyond the appearance. I am a distance runner....and have running shoes that look new BUT, either because of age or miles (700 or 800 miles), need to be replaced. Same as tires...at 16 years old, change them.
put b f goodrich , recommended by tire rack , on ours after 11 years and like them a lot . several years ago a guy from work got his trans am out of garage and after driving about a block the tread just peeled off of one tire . replace them , please . . . peace

my tennis shoes are 20 years old and they are just broken in, I am not replacing them !!!!!!!
I just replaced my OEM tires at 9200 miles and 13 years. I put the Michelin Runflats on them. The improved handling and ride were alone worth it not too mention how much more enjoyable it is to drive without fear of a tire blowing out!
You will wonder why you waited to so long to replace them. I also sold my OEM tires to a guy who has a salvage yard and a track Z06. He was looking for tires to just put on some old wheels when he moves his car around locally to events.
I see you don't drive it much, I would still consider non-run flats//// maybe after that you might drive it more ?????
An if you do go with non run flats, suggest buying a 12V electric air pump and keep it in your car for those times when nails find a way into your tire. Use the pump to put air in the tire until you can reach home or a service center that can repair the tire.
