I'm replacing the serpentine and AC belts on my 2000 FRC. While on the phone with the mechanic, he suggested I also go ahead and replace the tensioner (said he has owned 3 C5s himself) . Would he be referring to just the AC tensioner? Is there a tensioner for the serpentine belt also?

Yes, one for each system. I just did my AC tensioner along with the idler pulley and it made my AC noises go away. I also replaced the idler pulley on the main belt while I was in there. They are cheap and easy to replace so might as well do it while in there.
