Default Another exhaust question..

I had a earlier post about allignment of my exhaust tips..I decided to work on them a little more today, If I put the muffler tab on the top of the hanger the tips are just about perfect. I tightened it and it is not going to move any.. My only concern is that the muffler tab is against the frame .. I am wondering if it will get hot enough to hurt anything else that might be touching/ connected to the frame.. The muffler tab is on the rubber hanger not in the slot.. it is between rubber top of the hanger and the frame, when it is tightened it goes up against the frame...

Obvious question is.............why have you not put the tab in the slot?

The exhaust tips hang a little low when the tab is in the slot.. My question is will the tab being against the frame be a problem as far as it getting to hot ??

I don't think heat will be an issue. But the reason there are the rubber slots is to allow for movement when the exhaust twists under acceleration. They also act as a bushing so when the exhaust does move there is no metal on metal rubbing.

If you stand behind the car and have someone rev it you will notice some movement of the exhaust. But if you have it bolted down tight and out of the rubber mounts you probably will not see any. Even though it will want to move a bit.

I see,, I willnstand behind and have it rev up.. The muffler tab is setting on rubber , the top side of the hanger/insulator.. Hopefully that would allow it to twist .. My other optionwould be lower the higher side.. The exhaust tips all look different heights in pictures..

The rubber mounting blocks also would tend to keep any rattles from happening with metal on metal.
