Just a suggestion . . . I would not rule out a seat brand/model just based on the stitch color not being what you want. I have the factory Competition seats in my C7 and the stitching color is matched to the rest of the interior on the seats. There is lots of exposed, contrasting color stitching throughout the C7 so some who have not liked the stitching color in the car have simply bought dye pens and, in a couple of hours, dyed the stitching the color they want it to be. There have been a couple of threads and the pics posted show how good the color conversion works.

I'm thinking about seats like those pictured here for my C5 project car and I personally will go the dye pen route if I have an issue with thread color if I like everything else about the seats. Braum's look good but I'm liking the Ciphers.

yeah my ebay seats I dye penned the White to red. Have to go over again as it faded a bit. Im liking the ciphers more too with the suede. Just saw them on ebay and they say 20" wide?? big difference between 20 and 22" for us.

Trying to chose between these already have the red stitch but no suede for grip
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAUM-Black-...BYH3Ct&vxp=mtr

and these with suede but will have to dye the stitch red.

Does anyone think the Braum seats might mount to the OEM power seat rails for the C5? I sure have gotten to like the easy entry/exit feature over the years.

Well, I went to Cipher's site to order a set (black with suede inserts) and they are currently out of stock. Bummer.

They are due to get more in stock later in Feb so not a long wait. It's too crappy out now to drive the vette so not a big deal.

The double locking sliders come with the seats so you only need the mount plate. I will be making my own mounts, I'll share when I get that far. I will also take the drivers seat to an upholstery shop to get a sub belt hole added. Does anyone have a link to the plastic covers that are used for slots on aftermarket seats?

Why would you go there I just put up the ebay link. They are much cheaper on ebay

You can either buy the planted brackets. Im going to use these brackets I got last year for my ebay seats.

I don't see why not, just need to make adapters. Would likely be higher than the stock seat, so if headroom is an issue it would be tough.

I was thoroughly convinced by you until I pulled a closeup and the threads on the cipher appear to be gray. Not sure if red dye over gray may come out maroon. AHHHHHH!

Bummer, although, for me, not an issue as my interior is all black so I would get out the black dye pen.

Benchmark Performance have the grommets for about $18-22 each. Benchmark has been updating their website but you can email Chris@benchmarkeperformance.us Also Corbeau has them on their website.

Thanks Gordy.

I ordered the Cipher's and a set of C6 belts from ebay. I am making the bases so I am ready to go once they get here. I will start a new thread for the install and evaluation.

SuperTom,

I also wondered why some sites said 20" and some said 22" so I asked Cipher which it was so they put a tape on the seat. Specifically at the rear of the base where the vette is tightest. I'll confirm the dimensions when I get them.

Thanks for the groundwork. 22" may end up rubbing against the door up front not sure. Yes the back is the most important the recline mechanism will crash right into the c5 seatbelt reel when you push the seatback. Hence the need for the c6 seatbelts without that bottom reel.

Looking at the pictures Cipher sent, the seat seems to be only 19 inches at the point they measured, not 22 inches. Am I missing something?

I am considering the Braum and the Cipher. The Cipher model I am looking at is the 2001, the dimensions for that seat from the Cipher web site:

sorry I'm looking at the cpa2009 shows 22" on D http://www.cipherauto.com/index.php?...ducts_id=12709

This shows 20" on D same seat
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cipher-Auto-...FXqyKy&vxp=mtr

THe cheap ebay seats I tested last year were 21" with the lever right up against the door sill.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-yourself.html

that's why I'm afraid that extra inch may make a diffrence

I think the seat frames are all the same and then they use different foam and covers and trim for the different models. They all seem very similar in many details when you close at the pictures.

Another option, which I plan to look at when I get the seats, is to make them a fixed back seat like the Corbeau Evolution X. I assume they removed the adjuster and replaced it with a fixed bracket.

Well I just bit the bullet on the Cyphers with the suede centers. I will post up when they arrive in a few weeks.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes. I was about to pull the trigger on the Braum beige seats when they went out of stock. I had purchased three yards of the matching raw material to redo some trim pieces and the bottom of the door panels to match them when they came back in stock. However, I verified with Braum that the next run of the beige seats will be a different shade, much lighter. I guess their supplier changed. So I have three yards of material that will not match the new Braum seats when they are available. Looked at the Cipher “Tan” seats and on-line they look similar to the Braum old beige shade. Cipher is sending me a sample to compare. Oh well, the joys of aftermarket parts. I have the Speed Daddy brackets and the C6 seat belts already.

Yeah I went with the suede as I'm doing my lower doors and maybe my radio bezel area with a suede wrap.

No real proof but I have a feeling Cipher and Braum are made from similar company. There styles are the same and they both have that little tag on the side of the seat. I know Cipher 2000+ models are TUV approved haven't been able to find info on Braum yet
