Figured I should replace mines. From what I've seen and read these springs are yellow. Took a peek through the oil fill and the one spring that I could see is bare metal. My car is 11/01 build and have 112,000 miles on it. Were the springs ever a different color or does the paint burn of after that many miles? Of course, the previous owner could have changed them also. I will probably just swap them out anyways. Just wanted to know more about these springs.
I cracked my valve covers open to find mine were bare metal as well with two brown/orange stripes. Still haven't figured out if they're stock or not. I've read that these may have been put on the 385 horse LS6s from '01 but haven't found any definitive info yet.

I just did a cam on my car last week, changed the springs as well. 2002 Z06 80k miles on it. I bought the car about 2 months ago and was scared to take the car over 3000 rpm from all of the stories I have read. So I figured might as well do the cam and all the other stuff while I was at it.
The paint stripes are the same as on my springs from an 03Z, except my springs were painted yellow. There are reports of painted yellow and unpainted stockers. My guess is yours are stockers. Change em out....
