Default My windshield wipers are possessed

So last night it rained pretty hard like torrential down poor. Anyway this morning on the way to work my wipers took on a mind of their own. They would just wipe and wipe while i had it turned off. As of this afternoon they wont even come on. Is my wiper motor fucked? Anyone experienced something similar?

Not comfortable taking the battery out? Because that seems to be about it based on the link 8VETTE7 posted. I get you if you are out of your comfort zone, but it seems pretty cut and dry. Got a buddy or handy family member? If your wiper motor is fried then you will spending some quality time at the dealer anyway.

I believe that is just in regards to internal leaks. You are only concerned in the wiper motor which is on the drivers side so just look for the three udders referenced in the 4th & 5th pic only.

You'll need to check/unclog your udders regardless but you may need a new motor now too.

There are 3 udders on the driver side. The front 2 are easy to get to but the third (a little further back) is a pain to reach. Nevertheless, it's reachable by hand and you should be able to get to it (just barely).

When you check the passenger side udder, be careful not to pull out the whole udder. Just disconnect and leave it be. Then use a hose to flush it out. You don't want to pull it all the way out b/c it's a pain to put back in place. All you have to do is remove the battery to get to it.

I'm in the same boat as mine only work when I hit the switch once, or on the hyper speed mode.....no intermittent or regular. So I'm assuming it's the motor circuits, not the switch. Only way to tell (I think) is to expose the connection to the motor and test the wires for power.

Power present.....bad motor circuits

Power absent....bad stalk switch.

Good luck getting this solved. Hope it does not involve having to replace the motor.

I just had this exact same problem 2 weeks ago. Car sat out in the rain all day at work and the wipers started coming on by themselves. Had to pull the fuse to get them to stop. My drain udders were clogged up pretty bad so chances are the water flooded the circuit board. I cleaned my udders and also cut the bottom of them so water and other trash can flow more freely through them. I also bought a remanufactured wiper motor from autozone for 55 dollars and now the wipers are back to normal. The wiper motor and circuit board are sold together as one. Its a fairly easy job to do urself. I actually took the motor out twice, once to clean the old motor and see if that would help(it didnt) and then again to install the new motor. Second time it only took about 30 to 45 minutes to take everything apart and reassemble. Its really not a difficult job to do. If u decide to do it urself, id recommend getting some penetrating blast to soak the wiper arm bolts in. U dont necessarily need a puller like some people use, i used penetrating blast as mentioned above and i was able to wiggle the arms free.

Here are 2 very helpful and detailed write ups

Army mechanics from the first World War?
Corvette motor is one of the easiest to work on.

Easy fix compared to other Corvette woes, up on top, just take off wipers, remove the plastic tray held in by push pins, remove battery, clean out all the udders.

Wiper motor is also easy swap, calibration a little bit of a pain.

Usually thats the part that needs to be replaced. I dont think any local parts store will sell just the pulse board though.
