Chris,
This is my fifth C5 and I now have a Z06. I just came to my own realization today about this. The exhausts don't seem to add anything, but cosmetic looks and maybe a different tone. As far as intakes, again my own opinion, it seems to be a hit or miss on added hp. I think they only real way to tell if there was an increase in hp is to throw the car on the dyno and run it before and after. That is not feasible for most of us and I think that can be misleading to. Car should be run each time in similar atmosphere conditions; temp, humidity, etc. to get accurate results. Again I am no gear head like others on this forum. Just giving my .02 cents on the subject. I personally added a Blackwing for an intake since it is more reasonalbe to purchase and if I can't prove my hp gains than I won't waste my money on intakes claiming 30-40 hp gains. Personally I will be looking for some upgrade mods that I will notice the change without having to throw the car on a dyno to prove I had an increase.

15rwhp and 15rwtrq max for both mods. Don't be fooled by other claims.

I don't recall what I got from my TRIC intake and TPIS headers...but I do know that I got somewhere around 6-8 rwhp from my Borlas.

Buzz,
Did you really gain adding the Borla exhaust and if so, which exhaust? I bought the 140017 "Stingers" under the assumption they do add roughly what you said and then read every post after stating it did nothing. So I sold the system without even taking it out of the box. Did you dyno test to prove the numbers or how do you know?

Actually with an '01 Z06 you can probably make pretty good headway into more horsepower with a new airbox lid ('02) or intake and new exhaust. These two changes were made for the '02 model year along with a slight cam change to get 20 more hp...

just a thought, but you could probably get a reasonable amount just by upgrading to '02 parts in those two places.....

You sold them??? Bro, there are always differing opinions on this forum...if I got rid of everything that people said didn't work as well as something else, I'd have nothing now.

Seriously, I don't work for Borla and was surprised that I got the gains that I did. Yes, I did dyno before and after the install(not same day mind you so there may be some play in the numbers). I can't recall the exact numbers but I remember that it was between 6-8 rwhp increase for the Stingers.

At 600 miles, my car dynoed at 346 rwhp

Today, at 8500 miles, it dynoed at 360rwhp with only the Stinger. I dunno houw much of that is the mileage and how much the exhaust.

i have an 01 Z06.

i just added the 02 Airbox and a K&N airfilter. $100 worth of mods. I think those are the best bang for the $. The K&N will probably give you about 2-3 hp and the airbox dynoed at 14 hp on a 01 Z06. so your talking approx 15 hp, give or take a few hp, for $100. Not bad at all eh?

My car made 351 RWHP stock, and with an intake (Halltech and Vararam tied on the dyno), and long tube headers I make 382 RWHP WITH LS1 Edit tuning. I do have other mods (in sig) that don't make power but let me keep what I have a little longer, especially in the heat :)

I think I am pretty typical.
