...You could also find your local good guy muffler shop and have them chop the old tips off and put some different one's on that you like for about $100-150 bucks, and also have them do the by-pass pipe at the same time for a little more rasp note in the exhaust. Just throw'in out a reasonably priced option to you Saxy !!....

Exactly what I would suggest if on a tight budget.
Mine looked just like that and then I found this brand new set of Corsa's on ebay for less than 1/2 the cost of new, can't remember what tip option they called this but I like the different look, I would check your local CL and ebay, lots of Corsa , Borla's etc. out there that people changed for whatever reason. BTW Got rid of the high mile Black one?
Those are the "Daytona Tip" option that were sold only by West Coast Corvettes (WCC). Not sure if they're still available or not but they are by far my favorite tips for the C5. I had a set and loved them.

Next "tight budget" exhaust option (and quite a good one) is to go with a Z06 Titanium (Ti) Exhaust. Can usually pick up a set for about $300. You could also add a set of letter inserts for ~$25 (Vinyl) to ~$55 (Stainless Steel).
I went with the Ti Exhaust and black vinyl inserts on mine.
Before you get into buying an exhaust system I would suggest that you take your time and do some leg work. Besides different appearances, exhaust sound can vary widely between systems, from barely above stock to really aggressive/loud. Some drone, some don't. Not just volume, but tones can be very different. What sounds great to me (I run B&B Bullets) can sound horrible to others, a very individual thing. I don't think audio clips on the interweb do a very good job of giving a true representation of the system. Nothing beats hearing in person and a ride in a vette to really understand the differences in tone, volume and drone. A good place to check some out is your local or area corvette club. Most club members will have an aftermarket system on and are usually very willing to help you out and give you a demo. Good luck and best wishes!

Reason: add
Just buy some stainless bolt on exhaust tips - they are a bit bigger and look better than the later years' OEM tips. Cheap as well. Bought them way back in 98-99, still look good. Eckler's I think.

My budget is really limited for awhile, so for now I will probably grab a center plate and the little bolt on tips..actually my car sound just fine to me as is.
Good option to make it look way better that it does now.
You could have a bit of a problem fitting the new tips since the tips in most parts stores are round and the factory GM pipe is oval.
....that's why you go to Ecklers or similar to buy tips that fit! Mine are probably 17 years old and still look better than most aftermarket exhausts - and since the exhaust itself is OEM, the car does not sound like some teenager drilled holes in the muffler.
