Mother nature took it's toll on the bezel. One of my friends suggested I go with the overlay so I looked into it.....$90 ?
Hell I can get a OEM replacement for around $50 bucks.
I have had the dash apart so many times I can gut the entire thing in under a 1/2 hr....Me thinks OEM replacement is the way to go
Any trick to replacing it while the dash pad is out or is it a straight forward job ?
No need to remove the dash. Get a set of needle nose pliers, and snap off the top sections until it's all off. Then work out the four fastener mount points, grabbing them by the barrels, but being very careful not to scratch the HUD glass, or lose your grip on the pliers and hit the windshield. Then, vacuum up the mess o' plastic bits and splinters. I snapped my new one right in, although I did use a little black RTV on the inside snap points and along the inner edges to keep things rattle free.
I just joined the group. Can you give me a few more pointers on doing the HUD bezel tear out? I ordered a new one, but I’m a little apprehensive to break off the original one to install a new one. When you break out the old one, do the metal tab rings fall down when you use the needle nose pliers to pull out those barrels? I also sent you a friend request. Thanks!

It takes a bit longer to do it the right way (from underneath) but you can be sure you won't mess anything up.
PS you don't need to remove dash from car, just need to be able to lift it up a few inches to get your hand under it. Also I installed the new one in there without putting the locking washers back on the posts. This way it can be taken off from the top if ever need be.

I guess I can break off the old one and see how the new one goes in. Maybe some 3M tape would help hold the new one in? If it seems loose, I can then remove the dash and install it the correct way. When you break out the old one, is there a risk of pieces falling into the HUD? Thanks
Yeah could fall in there but should be ok. I think the HUD is just like a small TV so the pieces should be able to be vacuumed up without much issue but I could be wrong
