I picked up 4 Z06 type wheeels for our C5 coupe that are all 17". We were looking for an inexpensive set of street tires to take road trips with etc. Our drag wheels and tires are not very conducive to driving on the street a lot. My question is on the size. Right now I'm thinking about 245/45 and 275/40 for the front and back respectively. However, those are only both 25.7" tall. Can someone recommend a tire size that would be slightly taller (say 26.5" - 27") but not any wider? Looking for something inexpensive that I can get from my local Discount Tire.

Factory OD on tires (you should try to maintain front to rear difference of around 1")...
Base model (245/45/17, 275/40/18): 25.68 & 26.66 (0.98" difference)
Z06 (265/40/17, 295/35/18): 25.35 & 26.13 (0.78")
275/40/17 on the rear = 25.66 (will cause MPH incorrect reading)
245/45/17 on the front = 25.68 (with the rear choice will cause AH/TC issues)
If you want to maintain base model widths, how about 245/45/17 up front and 275/45/17 out back? = 25.68 & 26.74

Yes, that is probably a good idea. Good thinking and thank you. I can change the tire size in HP Tuners and load a tune for when we drive on the street so the speedometer, shift points, etc. won't be an issue. What I was trying to achieve was a look of more tire in the fender well and less fender well gap. We have 28" drag radials and 28" front tires and with the car lowered on stock bolts the stance is right and looks good. A taller street tire would fill it up better and I was worried about a 25.7" tire looking "funny".
