Default Seat Issue

I am soliciting opinions. I ordered a full leather seat package from leather seats.com and new foam from Corvette America and had a very reputable shop here in the Chicago area do the install (Riggs Brothers).

There is foam showing on the back of the head area in the corners of the holes of the sport seat.

The installer is saying there wasn't enough leather to tuck, the manufacturer is reviewing photos. I am a bit disappointed as I waited a long time for the seat covers and now there is not only this issue but who reimburses the shop if it's the covers, or is it something else like maybe the foam needed to be sculpted or trimmed?

I agree. When the installer found that there was not enough leather to tuck, they should have consulted you at that time. As mentioned above the foam could have been trimmed or you could have worked with leather.com on another cover. If you do end up with another cover, I don't think that they should charge you to install it.

I thank there will be a charge, the installer put on what was given to him.laether .com should pick up that bill.its easier to have the installer supply all the parts, then it's on them to make it right.

but a lot of times if a product is defective, the vendor's responsibility ends at just replacing the product. Removal and re-install costs usually fall to the buyer. Some vendors may work with the buyer though, so good to at least ask.

And yes, the shop might have been able to make some adjustments to make that work.

As stated earlier the installer could have trimmed the foam looking at picture the ribbing is rolled over from the foam being to large. Also a piece of the old seat cover could have been cut and installed between the foam and new cover it would not have look so obvious with the white foam showing.

So after a conference call with one of the chief designers/owners of leatherseats.com and the shop manager at Riggs Brothers we may have reached a solution. It appears the OEM design was flawed from the start in that area and that most never notice because realistically who's looking for it unless one is re doing their seats. leatherseats.com has agreed to try a new "makes sense" modification to that area with running the zipper down past the OEM tuck point.

I will keep you all posted but for now it seems we are heading in the right direction.
