Default Center trunk cargo getting really hott inside

Does anyone else have issues with their center trunk cargo getting really hott inside? What can I do about this? Would a cargo shade on the glass help lower the heat back there? And plus I have a really nice corvette trunk mat overtop of the stock cargo panels. Thanks

If you are referring to the under deck compartment the mufflers are right there and I don't know of a solution. If you are referring to the area between the glass and the deck a shade would help with lowering the heat from the sun.

I noticed that on my FRC - there is a removable panel with 2 little clips - I keep detailing stuff in there - went in there to retrieve something and it was hot - guess its the mufflers.

Targa fastback C5s have an option for a rear compartment luggage shade and parcel net (IIRC that's actually what it's called on the window sicker). The luggage shade clips to the extreme corner points of the rear hatch. It works pretty good for keeping sunlight and heat out but if you have the windows down or the targa top off it just flaps around like crazy. I actually don't use it a whole lot since I have a Lloyd's rear cargo mat that would be obscured.

The three rear compartments have some minor heat shielding under the upholstery and you can easily add additional material should it be getting fairly hot. I keep a good chunk of items in my compartments; a 12v air compressor, fix a flat, my show plaque, jacking pucks, a jumper box.

You can try one of the insulation kits that are available for the C5. As a bonus they may reduce road noise too.

You might consider relocating the jump box. If you need it chances are the switch to open the hatch won't work and now you are crawling from the seats back to the rear of the car to pull the release or dig into the compartment to retrieve the jump box. My brother went through this.
