The 3X5 flag that was raised by three fireman went missing for like 13 years. It was turned in at a firehouse in Washington State by a former Marine who had seen a History Channel Special trying to locate it.
Since then it has been verified extensively through forensics to be the same flag as the one raised. The flag was returned to the original owner of a yacht, from which it had been removed. It is now on display at the National Sep 11 Memorial & Museum.
