Haven't installed chrome ones over the intake manifold, but I do have a painted fiberglass one on mine. It is a two piece design and each piece has two mounting holes (one on each side of each piece) that slips over studs and then you use a nut to secure them solidly in place. I have seen some that use Velcro or something similar, but I not know how well they would stay in place. Here's a pic of mine:
I've had mine since they were first offered by RPI, although I don't think they are available anymore. It is as nice today as the day I got it(6 + years).

I can appreciate someone wanting to dress up the bay but I am more of a function over forum kind of guy. I don't want any extra stuff under the hood that does not have a specific purpose other than cosmetics.
