wife has a 2000 and a 2004 both c5 's . we have been buying one tank of fuel in each per year . this is usually in october and i put in sta bil . this year 2004 needed fuel earlier and now has almost a full tank . i just realized vette has , theoretically , two fuel tanks and if i put in sta bil now it will only reach one tank [ assumption on my part] . so the question is do i put in the normal amount or do i just put in half as much since it probably won't reach the second tank . your thoughts on correct thing to do now would be greatly appreciated . by the way , i hate to drive and would rather not try to drive till i empty the 2004 again just to add sta bil with another fresh tank of fuel . many thanks . . . peace

Why do you have Corvettes? They just seem to be taking up space in your garage?

Surely you can come up with some reason to get the car out and burn off a tank of gas before winter hits. That would be the best way and a heck of a lot of fun in the process.
I can't imagine having one sitting and not driving it. Mine runs every day it's not raining, which in Fla is a LOT.
I was gonna call "troll post" but he has 1500+ posts so I suspect it's actually a legit post/question. I certainly don't comprehend it, but it would seem on the up and up.
If you are running a Top Tier fuel such as Costco premium or Shell Nitro (both readily available near Sylvania) I would forgo the Sta-bil treatment this season.
I filled with the Nitro and no stabilizer before storage and had zero problems this Spring.

If you feel that you need to add a gas stabilizer, then you need to add it to a less than 1/2 full tank and then fill the tanks to get it into both tanks. Otherwise don't even bother with stabilizer.
I agree that it sound like you have the cars just to look at if you don't drive them........... Perhaps time to send them down the road to someone that will enjoy driving them instead of letting them rot in the garage. JMHO
Can you explain how the fuel additive still gets to the other tank after filling at less than a half tank ?
Thanks
thanks for the legitimate replies . yes wife drives them , she prefers the nassau blue 2000 but drives the dark blue 2004 most because it's a convertible and a z51 . we have had 4 other vettes , a 62 and 3 different 66's sold the last 66 just before buying the 2004 because it was stick and her knees got to bad to drive it . . . .peace.......ps . yes , shell fuel .
Over time gas looses octane. Adding stabilizers to gasoline also reduce octane. Long term storage of any gasoline containing ethanol is a big problem. When I store my car for three months/year I fill it with ethanol free marine gas, a can of Techron and no stabilizers.
Cut the guy some slack. If OP wants to look at em vs drive them that's his business. It's not our money.
I know a local guy that has like 20 cars. More than one house as well where he keeps the other 10.
See garage below. He enjoys the view. Hardly ever drives any. v v v
btw: I'm working on his '15 Coupe MSRP 73.4
Got a 50th & 40th from him so far.
That (was) a blue Cobra on the far right. Titled as a Shelby American. He sold a Ford GT...made good $$$.

You are certainly aware that the C5 (and later year Corvettes including the C7) have 2 gas tanks. One on the drivers side and one on the passengers side and there is a tube at the top of the tanks (cross over tube) that connects the two tanks.
The fuel system works by having an electric pump in the drivers side tank and a jet siphon pump in the passenger tank. When the engine is running the electric pump feeds the engine from fuel in the drivers tank and also sends a small stream of gas into the jet siphon pump in the passenger tank that creates a siphon action that moves fuel from the passenger tank to the drivers tank. The result is the drivers side tank stays full until the passenger tank empties. The PCM has an piece of software that calculates the approximate total fuel remaining in both tanks and displays it on the fuel gauge.
When you gauge shows less than half full tank the passenger tank is empty (except perhaps for a small amount). When you add anything (fuel or additive) to the tank it all goes into the drives side tank initially. When you pump gas into the car it goes first into drivers side tank and when the fuel level reaches the cross over tube level the fuel flows over into the passenger tank.
So if you add an additive to the tank and then pump gas into the car, the churn that occurs from the pump pushing fuel into the drivers tank mixes the additive and the mixed solution flows into the passenger tank.

Wow Bigcypress! I bet you wished you hadn't asked that question. The majority of the responses were rude and to be expected. It's always nice to know that others are so concerned with your driving habits.
I watched the C7 boys tear into a new owner today who had the audacity to ask the best way to keep his brand new car in "pristine" condition.
I bought a couple of 5 gallon fuel jugs and premixed fuel stabilizer with fuel, then came home and filled the gas tank. Repeat again, as needed. That solves your question on accurately mixing for twin tanks.
Overkill they all will say. Maybe, but last I looked it was sitting in my garage, not yours. I'm saving this black beauty( '04Z under 4K) for someone who always feels the need to comment negatively on someone else's garage queen. Make me an offer!
Sorry guys about the rant. His original question did not deserve the abuse dished out. Jeff
It's your car. Do whatever you want with your car. Don't pay attention to the liberals on here. They have decided how, when and where you should drive your car but don't want to help you with your question.
As mentioned earlier, if you are filling the tank with top tier gas you don't need to add Sta-Bil.
Your car, your choice. I've never understood the abuse people get for doing what they want with their own property.
Other than the winter, Sylvania is a nice area. My sister lived there at one time, and my folks live in Temperance, just over the border. Enjoy your rides, however you drive them.
thanks again folks especially ''8vette7'' who i suspect helped more than just me with a great reply . it was also nice to have some folks comment on the unhelpful comments . i don't know how many years i've driven corvettes but periodically since 1964 and have had two since 2000 . i don't like to drive , don't like to park in busy lots , and like seeing cars in garage . . . peace to ALL!!
