Default 98C5P's intro/build/mod thread

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself, I have been a lurker for a couple months.

My name is Ryan, I am from Nova Scotia, Canada.

I joined CF a couple weeks before I purchased my 1998 C5 pewter A4 coupe, with 3:15s. Base seats, bland grey interior, complete with options such as: cool pass side AC/warm drive side, sticky air bag cover on steering wheel ( goof off 2 to the rescue!) and killer bose stereo.......

It is in very good shape for higher miles ( 117,000kms), minor nicks, minor interior wear, all around great cruiser. It is my first auto car in a long time, it is easy to drive , but I miss my last 6 speed!

I read the stickies and searched as much as I could before purchase.
This is a great forum, tons of info and the regular forum banter....

Being in a smaller town, I was limited to my options for C5's. This one is my entry into the corvette world, and I do not plan to keep it.

I will do a few bolt ons, as I can transfer over to my next, will be on the lookout for a silver or black Z06 FRC.

This is day of purchase:

Less than 24 hrs later it was lowered on stock bolts.
First purchase was a set of used aluminium jacking pucks.

I am no stranger to modifying vehicles, it is my weekend hobby, came from larger turbo subaru camp , built 3 and decided it was time for a change.

This season before its stored I have only done a few exterior tweaks.

Black corvette letters front and rear, rear deck lid emblem delete, clear/black housing turn signals, stripped rotor tops hats of rusted and painted black, scrubbed all inside wheels ( so nasty !)
Cleaned out the udders ( all of them were completely full)
I have purchased a solid targa top , which is at paint now.
I can't stand the fish bowl feel of the acrylic top, super hot in the sun.
I even added a layer of limo tint inside, but it still doesn't feel or look right to me.

Finally ,today after waiting 6 weeks for my front tires, they are in! ( back order)

265/35R18 front and 295/35R18 rear Michelin pilot super sports
on C7 Z06 reps, 18x8.5 + 54 front , 18x10.5 +56 in gunmetal from OE wheels.... ( Yes I know reps, I have run reps in the past with no issues, and have had BBS brand names aswell )

Do not mind the dirt or overcast weather!

Like I said, I will keep the rest of the mods to bolt ons, which I can remove and install on next. I always return to stock before I sell.

So simple things like, intake, Borla cat-back , ETC.

Enjoy , thanks for having me here!

I look forward to showing you my progress in the future.....

I am building a 24x24 garage before the snow flies, I cant let her sit under the car port all winter!

2003 Z06, HUD, black chrome Z06 reps, Michelin PS2s ( came with OEM speedlines too!) 2004 Z06 shocks, Corsa X pipe, MGW shifer,110,000 km, garage stored.

Seats are in good shape, minor cracking, but overall good.

Sold my coupe today ( with wheels/tires), and quickly moved on this one, I do enjoy this car much better than my older coupe already!

BSM will be going this weekend, and will lower on stock bolts, plus a few other add ons I have been saving, snow is soon here, so storage soon!

I have a little time yesterday to do a few things, lowered on stock bolts, black housing front marker lights, black out reverse/3rd brake light, black letters.

I do not want to push my luck with black out brake lights, not sure of law around here. So I will not bother.

I ran out of time, so the BSM is on for now.

Well I finally have finished the inside of my new garage, so I spent a little time on the Z06.

Washed, clay bar, wax, and sealed. I also changed front and rear silver 50th emblems to OEM black ones . I did not like the silver/yellow combo and the silver was peeling off in many spots...

^^^ My pups love to hang out, too bad yours do not!

I finally got around to lowering it on Eibach bolts ( stock wasnt enough for me), and plasti-dipped rear bumper.
I had the windows tinted.
I had to remove white Hurst shift ball, it was too light and rattled, and made it difficult to shift.
( with MGW and anti-venom )

I bought a larger and heavier black delrin ball, all is well now.

Next up on the list is transmission fluid change and a CF vortex front lip.

Over the winter I will get my 18x10.5 speedlines powdercoated to match rear now, or get all 4 PC'd at the same time to avoid non matching colors.

Plan on running 275/35R18 front and 295-305/35/R18 rear PSS next year, those tires run wider I find.

Well I have finally found my sweet spot for the MGW shifter , I had notchy issues with a light weight white hurst **** and not doing the anti-venom. That light **** rattled a bit too.
Even after the anti-venom mod , it was better but still notchy and hard to shift.
I then swtiched to a larger diameter Delrin **** that was a tad heavier , and shifting was better.

Well, I just recieved my heavy weight composite ****.
8 oz ( 224 grams ?) and I could not be happier.

Smooth smooth shifts, less difficult to change gears !

I ordered mine in grey , it is way lighter in color than I wanted , but my happiness means more.
It looked gunmetal grey online , hoping to match my gunmetal stitch on my redline goods leathers.

I would suggest getting the black, it was from an online auction site , please pm me if you want the sellers name.
